My name, as you might guess, is Astrid van Woerkom. I was born three months prematurely on June 27, 1986 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. As of 2007, I am the owner of two disability labels, but it all depends on how you look at it, cause if the blind and autistic were in the majority, we'd set up special treatment centers for the chronically light-dependent and sufferers of neurotypical disorder.
I lived in Rotterdam till I was nine years old. Then, I moved to the city of Apeldoorn with my family. I moved out of my parents' home to live in an independent living training home for the disabled in January, 2006. At the same time, I earned my foundation degree (freshman year) of college, majoring in applied psychology. Because I wanted to study linguistics instead, I moved to the city of Nijmegen in 2007 to go to Radboud University. After several months, unfortunately, I experienced a psychiatric crisis and was institutionalized, therefore having to quit my studies. I currently distance learn at Open University, at this moment taking courses in psychology again. At the same time, I'm figuring out where I can live after getting out of the institution.
My main hobby is the internet. I like surfing the web, E-mailing and occasionally chatting or instant messaging. And, of course, I like working on this webpage, but I like the writing part more than the technical part, cause writing is another hobby of mine. I used to write fiction, but now mostly write essays and informational articles, in addition to keeping a blog, which is currently far more regularly updated than this website.
